Hi guys, welcome to my blog, again.
How do you do? I hope your "fine" is fine indeed.
If you're part of those people that usually posted along the lines of MCM (man crush Monday) on Mondays, WCW woman crush Wednesday) on Wednesdays, TBT (throwback Thursday) on Thursdays, etc, you're welcome to read an FBF post today. FBF simply means Flashback Friday.
But, where did that trend go, by the way? Apart from Thursday's TBT, I hardly see people post with those captions again. Well, trends come and trends go, but barracks remain.
So you're about to read a story from two years ago. I had a flashback moment and decided to let you in on it, of course with a lot to learn as well.
Enjoy!
My two last brothers are technically inclined. They love fixing stuff around the house and when a gadget is spoilt, we don't discard it until they have tried to fix it and approve it cannot be fixed.
One time, this lemon-colored rechargeable lamp stopped working and one of them tried his hands on it, got it fixed, plugged it, and kept it on the table in the room to charge.
I was at the table reading that night and I had proposed to read for a certain amount of time. A little bit past half my reading time, I had a nudge to stop reading.
I didn't want to give in to laziness and procrastination, especially since I know reading on the bed is my weakness.
However, I obliged, closed the material, and went to bed.
2.5 seconds after I'm on the bed, we hear a loud sound, and then fire breaks out. Boy, I screamed, was so scared and in shock and I was the only one in that room.
They rushed in and took charge of the situation, I couldn't even attempt to unplug it or switch off the socket. I was that terrified.
Things got settled and we realized that the lamp was leaking acid reflux and being plugged to electricity supply, it led to an explosion.
After I calmed down and got myself together, all I could think of was; "what if I was still at that table, what will I be saying now?"
Hmm…*insert real tears right here*
I mean, the material I was reading got charred a bit, and judging from my sitting position, my left eye would have been affected, no joke.
Not to think of the possibility of having my ears damaged cos of the loud sound. And then my phone which would have been on the table, only God knows what would have happened to it.
I definitely would have needed to see a doctor that night or at least visit a pharmacy. But no.
We were all grateful and said thank God I left the table at the time I did.
Now, it was unusual for me to not complete my reading time, I was practicing rigidity regarding my routine as I was working on building consistency and discipline in the area of time management.
But I moved…
I don't know if you've caught it already guys, but that was God. I mean, how else could I have decided on my own to move?
I had every reason to not move.
There was electricity supply which gives me extra energy to work cos I hate darkness.
I would have preferred to finish reading so I can tick off the box on my to-do list as the perfectionist that I am.
I wouldn't have chosen reading on the bed over reading at a table, knowing fully well that nothing productive comes out from me being in bed most times, especially at night.
But God!
In hindsight and retrospect, we all agreed it was God. And because it is a testimony, I can share with so much joy today.
But…
There were times I missed God's voice and would later regret it.
There were times I took a step away from God's will and suffered the consequences.
There were also times I wasn't sure it was God and so ignored the voice.
But with all my experiences put together, I can say this for sure...God is always speaking. He isn't dumb at all.
Maybe you've missed Him repeatedly…
Maybe you don't even know what His voice sounds like again…
Or you think He isn't speaking to you at all…
Let me be the first to let you know God loves you and is always interested in speaking to and with you…
But are you creating room to hear His voice?
"My sheep know my voice"…
God's voice is a constant in the equation of this communication…
However, your receptive ability is either making the equation balanced or not.
But hey, it ain't late, fam.
Work on decluttering your mind so you can make room for God's voice...
Work on taking a leap of faith to respond to what you hear, that way you strengthen your faith and trust in God…
Work on knowing the voice of God…
Work on not missing divine signals and strategic alignments.
And if you're already at this stage, you know it's something you don't want to lose.
Do all you can to guide it jealously. God wants to talk to you more than you can imagine. Don't miss out on this. Do all you can to make this a constant in your life.
Just like we know that communication is the lifeline of relationships, talking and listening is a method of communication. And when you don't speak to someone in a while, you miss the person.
Should God be missing you? And should you be missing God? Think about this as you have a nice day today.
PS: How to Hear from God by Joyce Meyer is one book I recommend to help you with this. You can get the hard copy at any bookshop where Christian books are sold. It'll help you, trust me.
