Kingdom Marriage Series: Episode Twelve

Hi, guys. How do you do? Long time no post, right? It was beyond my control, honestly. But I'm here for the last episode in the  Kingdom Marriage series . And it's a really interesting one. Mr. and Mrs. Scott and Beatrice Eneje shared a lot with us. I admire their honesty and vulnerability and can't wait to let you in on it.  Before I leave your face, here's a reminder to catch up on the previous episodes. They are filled with many lessons you can't afford to miss. Start from episode one , then move to the next episode  and the next one till you get to the previous episode . Deal? Alright, let's hear from today's couple. Nancita: Please introduce yourselves.  Mr.:  I'm Scott Eneje. Mrs.:  I'm Beatrice Scott Eneje. We’ve been married for 3 years now. Nancita: How did you meet? Mr.: We met in college. She caught my attention in a class when she dissed me for dissing friends who were trying to find out how I was the only one to score every point in a

Chronicles of Teacher Nan (3)

Hi guys, welcome here. How do you do? Today, I write about something that breaks my heart, literally. In this season as a youth corper, teaching has exposed me to the enormous defect in parenting and family life. It's a lot! Sometimes I feel like there should be a license to permit childbearing, honestly. Because it might not sound good, but it's the truth. Good parenting is a big deal and not everyone can do so. My heart just breaks when I see some character displayed by students...like, do you have an actual family? Because what's this rubbish behavior?? Corper Nan has seen a lot, tbh. 😭  From disrespect, rudeness, gross misconduct, and devilish character to parents who don't even know their children. When I speak against it, I mostly hear some teachers say: that's how it is in other schools, children are now rude, blah blah. I have never agreed to that, and I never will. We've had parents come to defend their children, in the name of; 'my son is not like

Chronicles of Teacher Nan (2)

Hi guys, welcome! Today, I write another episode in the Chronicles of Teacher Nan, and I'm writing about a certain challenge I faced. So I teach the senior secondary section and I take them three different subjects (private school wahala 🤧) I have zero tolerance for indiscipline. I'm that teacher that will walk you out of my class if you come late, and punish you if you don't do your assignment. I'll also ask you to tear your scripts and dispose of them if you're reported to have cheated in a test or exam. Zero tolerance, nothing less. How can a student be coming to school by 8:30 A.m? 🙄   My rules are very clear: respect yourself and we'll be fine. I repeat this statement to them a lot. Respect yourself, not me. I don't need your respect. Beginning of the term, I spoke to them like I would my siblings, and told them the motto for my class is: 'knowledge, discipline, and sound character'. Any conduct outside this will attract disciplinary measures.

Money Matters

Hi guys, welcome! How do you do? Today, I decided to write on a topic that affects us all… Irrespective of gender differences,  ...differences in age, culture, race, nationality, or tribe. I'm talking about money, good old money! Money matters matter and it matters to all.  Money affects you in ways you cannot deny. Your best bet is to master it.  So yes, I bring you greetings from my bank statement and account officer… Money... Ego Owo Kudi (Insert your language…) Dollars Pounds Euro… Money matters matter. It affects the quality of life you lead and the choices you make… From daily needs to wants... From what you buy to what you don't buy... Money is necessary. If you're in this country, you know that by now. So what about money sef? First, lemme let you in on how this topic became one of my interests.  It was the COVID 19 lockdown and I was looking out for books to read. I just wanted to read. Had started reading more, thanks to the lockdown. I was enjoying it and wante

Knowledge Metabolism

Hi guys, aloha. A quick question for you… How many of you were crash-readers in school? Like, you'd only read when exams and tests were knocking at the door...All of a sudden, your schedule changes. Even feeding takes a back seat as you'd be focused on putting everything into your exams at that point, after which you'd return to your usual routine. I hope your hands are up right now, 'cos I can't be the only one on this table. So back in school, there was a fixed system put in place to assess the knowledge we gained per time. Tests, examinations, quizzes, projects, and what have you.  The grades would either gladden us or tell some people to try again later. Examinations were the litmus test for knowledge gained and whether or not it was the perfect method of assessment, we all had to dance to the tune at one point or another. Some of you are still dancing to it right now and I send you my love. I never liked exams by the way. But I paid due diligence 'cos you
