Hi, guys!!!!!!
It's been soooooooooooooooooo long, and I know it.
It's actually been two years, two months, one week, and a day since I last wrote here, and I can explain.
A whole lot happened in that time, and some things had to pipe low for a while, one of which is this blog.
Unintentional, but very necessary.
I'm back, and will be showing up a little differently cos I had to redefine consistency more deliberately.
Let me bring you up to date with my life in the last two years.
Right after my last post, I discovered I was pregnant and spent the year 2024 growing a child in my womb.
Then I spent the whole of 2025 breastfeeding, caring for him, transitioning him to solids, and preparing him for weaning. All of that happened while minding my business and showing up in other areas of life.
On Tuesday, he became eighteen months old, and that calls for celebration because it's a special anniversary for me.
Just so you know, I'm usually called the Queen of dates. I'm very attached to significant dates.
I have many anniversaries and make a big deal of them. And I know many people's birthdays and anniversaries offhand. It's been my thing for yearsssssss....
Speaking of anniversaries, today's a special one, like I said.
Can you guess?
Hahaha...
Today, one year ago, my baby began inclusive breastfeeding. (After six months of exclusive breastfeeding). And I began the journey of feeding him natural and nutrient-dense meals intentionally.
Generally, I practice the farm-to-table principle in my home. With my son, Ethan, I am rock-solid committed to this principle, with no room for compromise.
What that means is that 96% of what he eats comes from the farm and not a factory. With the 4% being old-fashioned oats and oil.
So for a whopping 365 days and counting, I've shown up for him with only healthy and natural meals.
Was it an easy ride? Hell no!
But the C in my name is for consistency. So I stayed true to my commitment; a decision I made before marriage sef.
It's written in one of my journals, because what does the Bible say about writing the vision?
Amidst epileptic power supply, spoilt kitchen gadgets, recipes-gone-wrong, many side-eyes, questions, and 'yinmus', I did it. And by God, I'll keep doing it.
In case you're wondering what fuels my consistency, it's simple: continuous research and an understanding of healthy living and child nutrition.
I know that sound health is possible, and we can optimize our bodies for longevity, productivity, and strength in all seasons.
Plus, the first 1,000 days of a child's life (beginning at 270 days of conception and continuing to age 2) are very critical.
I understand that weaning isn't just about introducing him to solids.
It's about laying the foundation for his nutrition, engineering his taste buds, conditioning his brain, designing his gut health, and investing in his future; one void of a compromised immune system.
Of course, I'm still learning. And I made a couple of mistakes, more like learnt a lot sha.
I'm grateful for the journey thus far and excited about the future.
The other day, someone said it's because I have the time. I laugh in Swahili. Time for where?
I actually don't have the time for sickness. That's why I do all I do.
As a matter of fact, I juggle domestic affairs with ministry, writing and editing, human resources management at Geobrooks Consortium, and every other demand of life.
So yes, I don't have the time. What I have is a vision.
Someone else also asked me how long I intend to do this. My response is simple; daily as I live. So help me God, amen.
Dear yummy mummy, you can do this, I assure you. It's not easy, but it's definitely not impossible. Your children deserve the best, and it begins with what you put in their bodies.
Just make up your mind and show up every day without overthinking it. The greatest advice I can give you is what my mum told me: "Take your life one day at a time."
In another post, I'll talk about practical tips for healthy eating and stewarding your family's health correctly. Because I believe sound health is possible, and you can optimize your body for it.
Ps: Shout out to my baby girls who have been reminding me of blogging for the longest time. Thank you ❤
Pss: I missed blogging sha π₯². I'll try to post here often.
Till I come your way again, stay healthy.
Love and Light,
Nancitaπ₯
